Dragon Dummy

Oliver and I successfully produced the "Naked Penguin" picture book released by ABC Books in May '08. It sold 6,772 copies as of the first royalty statement in June '08. Since then, I'm waiting for stats, but the publisher has only a few hundred copied left and was considering pressing the reprint button.

Our next book is the "Dragon's Lie" Due for release May 2009. As part of my contribution to the process, writing and story boarding, I am preparing a full size colour dummy to inspire Oliver and to show our editor Belinda Bolliger. I have enjoyed this and surprised myself. I didn't know I could still draw. I realise how hamstrung I was by my line and ink technique. Colour pencil is so much more freeing.

Meanwhile Oliver purchased a new back lit drawing tablet which he says will speed up his part of the process. We will need to be speedy as final art is due December 23rd. We will probably go full time when the $4000 advance arrives from the ABC.
